Thursday 8.9.16, 18.00 onwards, 60’s Palaver. JES + Finn-Guild Pub Quiz. We had a huge turn out, 10 big quiz teams, and the place was packed! Extra super thanks to our stand-in quiz master Stan Domaniewski – you did a fantastic job!

19.4.2016 JES and Finn Guild Cake Night at Väen Talo, Jokikatu 8. People brought home made or shop bought cakes and we made tea (we also had Karelian Pies!)

18.2.2016: JES and Finn Guild Pub Quiz, upstairs @60’s Palaver, Kauppakatu 22.

We had about 30 people and 6 teams and some people went to Las Palmas afterwards to sing karaoke.

The rounds were: TV and movies, Valentine’s Day, General Knowledge, and Harry Potter.

2.2.2016, 17-19, Cake Night @ Houkutus 
A meet up to enjoy cakes and hot drinks  (self funded) and have a nice chat. About 15 people attended.

17.12.2015, JES + Finn Guild Christmas Party and Pub Quiz, upstairs @ 60’s Palaver.

Quiz rounds were:
Christmas (one big round of 20 questions)
Christmas movie picture round
Star wars (specialist round)

Results:

5th place: Medium grey side of The Force – 19,5/41

We actually had a tie for 1st, but after the tie breaker question Unto Koskinen reigned supreme.

17.9.2015, 18.00 -> JES + FINN-GUILD FINLAND Pub Quiz,Upstairs @ Hostina Piimälinna.Joensuu English Speakers‘ and Finn-Guild Finland‘s Pub Quiz! The event was open to everyone and free to attend. Small, tasty prize for the winning pub quiz team! The Quiz started around 19. There was chatting and socialising, the chance to meet people and form quiz teams before that. Quiz rounds:TV and Movies, Sports, General Knowledge, Sex and the City (TV show only) specialist round. 8 big teams, 4 quiz rounds, 1 lovely barman (Ken), 1 loud Quiz Master (Stu) = a great night!

11.12.2014, 18.30 -> Joensuu English Speakers Christmas Party and Pub Quiz upstairs at Hostina Piimälinna. Christmas themed party with fun quiz. Christmas fancy dress encouraged. Christmas treats. Secret Santa. FREE entrance to party and quiz. Quiz rounds were: Christmas films, Christmas songs, Father Christmas trivia, Monty Python (specialist round).

30.10.2014, 18.30 -> JES Fangtastic Halloween Spooktacular upstairs @ Hostina Piimälinna

 Thanks to all the ghosts and ghouls who came along to JES 3rd fancy dress Halloween party and horrifying pub quiz. Special thanks as always to our terrifyingly good quiz master “The elephant man” Stuart Spilaneand also to Kenneth Rabin and all at Hostina Piimälinna for hosting us and letting us decorate! Special mention for wicked witch Bongkot Keadar Kangaspunta who donated amazing hand made decorations (the spiderwebs and candle jars) and devilishly delicious home cooked Halloween snacks.

The quiz rounds were: Halloween trivia, movie monsters, the mafia (specialist round), Halloween-themed picture round.

Throughout the summer of 2014. Weekly Thursday night meet ups at 60’s Palaver (Kauppakatu 22), sometimes moving onto Elina (the boat bar) to enjoy the riverside, Surakka for food, and/or to Laila for karaoke (and once going bowling). We had regulars who came almost every week but also a different mix of people each week which meant different conversations and different evenings. The pub meets are continuing this autumn. Last week (Sept 5th) we had over 20 people and lots of new faces.

16.5.14, 19 -> PUB QUIZupstairs @ Hostina Piimälinna, Siltakatu 4 (where Palaveri used to be). Quiz rounds were: movie quotes, general knowledge, sport, and The Beatles. We had 4 big teams – the Brainiacs, Enigma, the Rubber Soles, and the Fab Four +1. The winners were Enigma with 31/42! And 10/10 on the movie round! After the quiz we stayed to chat and watch Finland vs Switzerland ice hockey game.

25.4.2014,  17-19 Cake Night / JES’ 2nd Birthday Party, @ Houkutus, Torkatu 24.

20.3.2014, 18.30 -> PUB QUIZ: Thursday 20.3 18.30 upstairs @Bar Play (Kauppakatu 23B). First quiz of 2014. The rounds were: Sport, TV & Movies, General knowledge, Stargate Atlantis (for Katrina) plus one picture round. We had three big teams: the Mongrels, the Frozen Answers and the Special Pens! The winners were the Special Pens (Hanna, Sari, Matthew, Katrina, Chloe). After the quiz some people went on to to 6o’s Palevar pub and some stayed to chat in Bar Play.

2.3.2014, 13-14, ‘Sliding Sunday’ (sledding) behind the Lutheran Church (Papinkatu 1). Hosted by Matthew.

20.2.2014 18.30-20 Bowling at Cosmic. We had 6 lanes’ worth of bowlers and quite a good crowd came to Surakan baari for ‘after bowl’ drinks.

9.1.2014  17.30-19 Cake night at Kahvila-Konditoria Houkutus A good turn out a quite a few new faces.

5.12.2013: Christmas party  & Bumper Christmas Pub Quiz, 5.12.13, 19.30 onwards upstairs @ Bar Play. The quiz was won by ‘The Happy Trotting Elves’ (Matthew, Sari, Henri, Chloe, special guest John!). We had a Secret Santa with some really lovely gifts and there were free candy canes (provided by Chloe).

25.10.13: JES’ Fangtastic Fancy Dress Halloween Party + Pub Quiz upstairs @ Bar Muru. Our 2nd Halloween party. Pub quiz won by team ‘Mmm’ (Matthew, Johanna, Sari, Henri, Chloe). Quiz rounds were: TV & Movies, General Knowledge, Game of Thrones TV series, picture round. There were some truly spooktacular costumes, and candies for everyone thanks to the generosity of 2 guests.
